U.S. DOE Requests Comments on Streamlining Regulations and Requirements
As part of its implementation of President Trump’s Executive Order 13771, “Reducing Regulation and Controlling Regulatory Costs,” the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is seeking comments and information to assist in identifying existing regulations, paperwork requirements and other regulatory obligations that can be modified or repealed, consistent with law, to achieve meaningful burden reduction while continuing to achieve the Department’s statutory obligations. President’s Executive Order on Energy Independence
President Trump issued an Executive Order on March 28, 2017, focused on energy independence and economic growth. The Executive Order directed the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to suspend actions related to the Clean Power Plan; lifts the ban on Federal leasing for coal production, eases restrictions on the production of oil, natural gas, and shale energy; directs all agencies to conduct a review of existing actions that harm domestic energy production; and calls for revisiting federal overreach on energy regulation.
