On May 9, 2018, during a hearing of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, Congressman Paul Tonko (D-NY) asked U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Perry about his intent to move FY’18 U.S. State Energy Program (SEP) and Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) funds to the states in a timely manner. The Secretary affirmed his commitment to this issue.
Both Congressman Tonko and Secretary Perry noted the importance of cyber security and energy emergency preparedness. Congressman Tonko emphasized the critical need for key research and other programs within DOE’s Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability given the move of the energy emergency programs to the newly created DOE Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response.
