On July 14, 2016, NASEO hosted the the fourth installment of a five-part webinar series to educate State Energy Offices on the availability and benefits of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ENERGY STAR Program.
This webinar showcased best practices that have worked for Kentucky to establish and maintain a robust state-wide K-12 school energy efficiency program using ENERGY STAR tools and resources.
This webinar also showcased the Kentucky School Energy Managers Program (SEMP) and its success to save Kentucky Schools Districts more than $68 million in cumulative avoided utility costs. The program was initiated through a partnership between the State Energy Office and Kentucky School Boards Association. SEMP has helped to certify 22 percent of all K-12 schools in the commonwealth as ENERGY STAR and the program’s
long-term sustainability is supported by utility demand-side management programs.

NASEO, and the ENERGY STAR Task Force, continue their efforts to provide leadership, education, and resources for the benefit of all State Energy Offices. The Task Force will host the final webinar in this series on September 22, from 3:00 – 4:00pm ET. The webinar will focus on how to leverage local benchmarking programs in order to improve energy data access.
