NASEO Hosts Western States Petroleum Shortage Response Planning Workshop

On April 30-May 1, NASEO, in partnership with the National Emergency Management Association, and with support from the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response, hosted a Petroleum Shortage Response Planning Workshop, for states in the Western region to support the development of multi-state coordination to address fuel shortage challenges during a catastrophic and wide-spread event (e.g., earthquake and tsunami), enhance relationships among state energy offices and emergency management agencies, aid state and federal agencies in defining respective petroleum emergency responsibilities, explore how states might develop more comprehensive petroleum shortage response plans, and bolster overall energy system resilience.
