NASEO and States Participate in DOE Clear Path VII Exercise

Last month, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response hosted the Clear Path VII functional exercise examining coordinated state, regional, and federal emergency potential response to an earthquake in the New Madrid Seismic Zone. Over 175+ participants from across the nation, including NASEO staff and state energy officials from Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Wisconsin, gathered in Memphis for this major public-private sector event. During the two-day exercise, participants examined critical infrastructure interdependencies, regional fuel shortage issues, critical facility prioritization, and communications shortfalls likely to be experienced following a catastrophic earthquake. The official After-Action Report will be released later this summer.
