DOE Assistant Secretary Hoffman Notes NASEO-DOE Pilot Program

Patricia Hoffman, Assistant Secretary, Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability, U.S. Department of Energy, noted the new NASEO-DOE Energy Market and Planning pilot (E-MAP) as an important opportunity to address energy infrastructure modernization and interdependences.

Ms. Hoffman presented on the DOE’s goal to advance grid modernization and promote holistic planning approaches by focusing on risk assessment, technology, cost/benefit, and response and recovery.  She also mentioned the collaborative DOE and NASEO effort to partner with states and the private sector to create an Energy Market and Planning Pilot (E-MAP) program that would assist several pilot states in developing a more holistic and innovative energy system approach through a road-mapping process and eventual adoption of related actions. The project is currently underway, and results from the pilot states will be shared on an ongoing basis with all of the states and private sector energy partners.
