Offshore Wind Bill Approved in Maryland

On Monday, March 18, the Maryland General Assembly approved Governor O’Malley’s bill to encourage wind development off the coast of Ocean City.  The legislation now goes to Governor O’Malley for his signature.  The bill would require electricity suppliers in Maryland to get up to 2.5 percent of their power from offshore wind as early as 2017, and would increase electric bills by about $1.50 per month if a wind project is built.
