NYSERDA and Open NY Expand Solar Projects to Accelerate Solar Growth

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has made data available on residential and small commercial solar projects in development in New York State through NY-Sun, an integral component of Reforming the Energy Vision (REV).

The inclusion of solar pipeline projects will add almost 15,000 projects to Open NY and presents a clear and transparent picture to help the private sector scale up New York's sustainable, self-sufficient solar industry. Industry growth supports the State's Clean Energy Standard, which mandates that 50 percent of electricity generation come from renewable energy sources by 2030. Previously, NYSERDA provided details on Open NY about 44,000 solar projects installed since 2003.

"The availability of this information will help the solar industry and clean energy technology companies to better target business opportunities in the State," said John B. Rhodes, President and CEO, NYSERDA. "This is one of many activities New York State is taking under Governor Cuomo to spur renewable energy development as we work toward the Clean Energy Standard goal."
