On October 26, 2023, Maryland Governor Wes Moore announced that the Maryland Energy Administration will provide more than $6 million in FY24 funding through its Maryland Offshore Wind Grant Program Portfolio. This funding is intended to promote the growth of Maryland’s businesses and workforce in support of its emerging offshore wind industry. The Maryland Offshore Wind Grant Program Portfolio is comprised of two programs: the Offshore Wind Workforce and Education Program and the Offshore Wind Supply Chain Investment Program.

Through the Offshore Wind Workforce and Education Program, this new funding will support industry education and workforce training by helping offset the cost of developing, expanding, or implementing offshore wind education and training programs. Funds will also be made available to support paid internship programs in the offshore wind industry.

The Offshore Wind Supply Chain Investment Program will assist eligible businesses looking to enter the offshore wind industry by offsetting the costs of market entry reporting and planning as well as capital expenditures needed to enter the offshore wind market. Funding is also provided to assist those entities with covering the costs of participating in offshore wind industry events.

The Maryland Energy Administration administers both programs. More information about Maryland’s offshore wind initiatives can be found here.
