Maryland Opens its OPEN Energy Innovation Program

The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) announced the opening of the Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) application period for its OPEN Energy Innovation Program. This program, in its fifth year, provides funding for energy projects that drive greenhouse gas reductions, equity in energy projects, and energy affordability. Last year’s (FY24) awards will cut greenhouse gas emissions by more than 2,200 metric tons when implemented.

This is a competitive grant opportunity. Proposed projects should show potential for scaling and replicability to advance new technologies or new economic sectors and to deliver public benefits beyond the single project. Typical awards are up to $200,000, though larger grants are possible for exceptional applications. More information, including links to the funding opportunity announcement and application form, is at the program’s web page. Although applications are considered throughout the fiscal year as long as funding is available, MEA strongly encourages applications by January 24, 2025.
